The General Services Administration (GSA) is developing the follow-on to 2GIT (Second Generation IT), now referred to by GSA as “2GIT Reimagined”, one of the government’s most widely used Best-in-Class vehicles for commercial IT hardware, software, licensing, maintenance, and related services. GSA released an RFI in August 2025 to shape the recompete, and the current 2GIT BPAs reach the end of their ordering period on September 30, 2026. As of mid-2026, the acquisition remains pre-RFP, with GSA’s recompete strategy reported to be under review to align with current administration priorities.
2GIT is a multiple-award BPA under the GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) that gives agencies fast, compliant, Best-in-Class purchasing of commercial IT commodities. The follow-on is expected to keep that core scope while tightening cyber and supply-chain requirements:
- IT hardware (laptops, desktops, servers, peripherals); commercial software licenses, subscriptions, and maintenance/renewals; network, mobility, and secure endpoint devices; installation, configuration, and deployment support; onsite and virtual customer training; and cybersecurity-aligned, compliance-driven products
The RFI signaled a clear modernization emphasis for the follow-on: Cyber Supply Chain Risk Management (C-SCRM), Zero Trust–aligned and cloud-ready secure endpoints, authorized-reseller requirements, NIST 800-171 and emerging cyber compliance, AI/ML-enabled devices, a direct-sales/OEM model, and enhanced catalog and pricing-refresh mechanisms. Because eligibility runs through GSA MAS SINs, firms not yet on this schedule, or that are missing the right SINs, should use this pre-RFP window to get positioned.

WHY 2GIT MATTERS
2GIT is one of the fastest-growing IT commodity purchasing channels across DoD and civilian agencies. Built to replace the Air Force’s NETCENTS-2 Products IDIQ, it remains the Air Force’s mandatory mechanism for commercial off-the-shelf IT purchases and is open to other DoD, civilian, and eligible state, local, and tribal buyers. It delivers fast, compliant purchasing under FAR Part 8, transparent catalog pricing, strong small business participation, and robust supply-chain assurance—making a seat on the follow-on a durable channel into federal IT buying.
For small businesses, eligibility and readiness are the whole game. Because 2GIT runs through the GSA MAS, a firm needs an active schedule with the right SINs to compete and GSA notes the current active 2GIT BIC is fully awarded and not onboarding new vendors, so the follow-on is the entry point.
WHO SHOULD CONSIDER 2GIT
The follow-on will be a strong fit for companies that sell commercial IT products and services and can support agency buying through the MAS. Firms with the following should assess their fit now:
- IT hardware, end-user devices, and peripherals providers
- Commercial software licensing, SaaS subscriptions, and software renewals/maintenance
- Installation, configuration, and deployment support providers
- Help desk and product-aligned customer support services
- Secure mobility and Zero Trust–aligned endpoint solution providers
- OEMs, distributors, and value-added resellers (VARs) with authorized-reseller status
- Firms not yet on GSA MAS that want to use this window to get on Schedule and align SINs
